Thinking Too Much Perhaps?

I wonder why idolisation is such a major component of the Asian-teen lifestyle? Take Slur for example. No offence or anything but I started thinking bout this because of you so I'm just giving credit to where it's due.
Anyway, take Slur for example. She's has a very good family ummm... what's the word? "Upbringing"? What I mean is by the look of her mom, she doesn't look like one to indulge in foolish antics such as going googoo gaagaa over stuffs but take another look at the daughter and you'll realize a lot can happen between a generation. From the mother who looks so stern comes a daughter who goes "OH MY GOD!!!! *roll eyes shakes hands gets excited hyperventilates squels shierks etc etc*" at the mention of some Korean or Japo or Chinese TV star.
I don't know why but she's not alone when it comes to idolising all these stars. I mean take F4 or 5566 or such bands for example. They suck. They (I'm very sorry for my forwardness but I feel this is as soft as I can get) SUCK. But they're extremely famous well known and imortalised by brainless chickens nonetheless. Why?
I agree (very reluctantly) that occasionally these people do come out with 1 or 2 OK songs but I think this is solely because of the lyrics. That's something extraordinary bout these Asian songs. They might suck to an endless degree but there's an x-factor in the lyrics, maybe it's an unrequited love, maybe a sad story... There's just something that makes you feel like your life is being sung for millions to hear that makes you wana get more of it.
But back to the point, why are these people idolized? Why does Slur go "AHHHHH!!!!!" every time some Korean show guy is mentioned?
Is it the way the characters are always portrayed in these shows? You know, good looking, rich and cocky / poor but kind and warm-hearted, good looking, has a certain talent, good looking, guys generally good at sports, good looking, girls fall into 2 categories: 1) smart and great or 2) lovable but klutz-ie. Last but not least, good looking again. All of them are good looking. I mean unless they're in the mom-dad age category then they become so-so looking lah but even the paper boy who pops down the road and passes by the main character is good looking in these shows. Is that why? Because they seem to represent a part of a dream that we can't be yet there's still something human about them that makes you a part of them so you just can't let go? I mean, letting go would be like giving up on yourself, right?
My second theory is because we have a certain inferiority complex instilled in us by the westerners' hold over us to make us have a certain need (maybe it's embedded in our genes since our ancestors) to look up to others. One proof to support this hypothesis would be the tendency for a lot of people to undertake foreign names. This culture is extremely unavoidable in the Chinese society. They say it's to make it easier for others to call them but I don't get it, we're all living in this Chinese-Malay-Indian society where names like Sieu Ming, Mei Ling, Farhan and Anusha are common to us, why would there be a name to "easerize" those names? Unless you're born with a name like "Akbezhistaernyu Kimisaners", I don't see a point in adopting a foreign one.
So why is it that we're so prone to idolisation which is obviously just a passing craze?

=.= well.. juz coz a parent is strict doesn't mean da child will be da serious type rite? it's all one's personality. u're juz born dat way. n when u're growing up if u're not stopped 2 maximise dat personality in u then dat's it lo. grow into wad u're born with. at least dat's wad i think.

and idolisation is partly due 2 da fact dat most things dun happen in reality. idolising, or rather fantalising abt these shows gives u a chance 2 throw urself into a world of the show and hv a nice dream bout it. it's like when u're hungry n no food, u hv 2 create da food from ur memory 2 satisfy da hunger.

... and do i reli go ah!!! over all korean guys?? i mean i oni do dat over CUTE ones. not all. n juz so happen da famous ones are the cute ones oni then can't help it lo. n goin ah!!! doesn't equate to idolising.. since idolising is making those ppl ur role model.

lalala.. =]
